This wonderful basket with striking traditional geometric designs is of unknown origin. The basket is round, but depending on the side of the basket you are looking at, it appears off-balance. Multiple pictures are included to show its lopsided feature. 
 
The basket has never been appraised. It was purchased at a Native American auction in the 1980s-1990s, but no authentication of age or origin is available. It appears to be old, but that may be misleading due to damage. There is a string attached which originally had a tag with basket information, but the tag was lost in a flood.
 
The basket measures almost 6 inches in height and 6 inches at its widest. This basket is in fair-poor condition showing lots of wear, dirt, and discoloration due to having been in a flood. 
Regardless of the flood damage, this basket would look wonderful in the currently popular farmhouse style, a contemporary decor, or anywhere there is desire for warmth, smooth lines, texture, and an earthy element.
