Probably Navajo, but authentication not available. The is a stunning square-shaped rug with four gold crosses in each corner with black and maroon diamonds and triangles, along with black and gold traditional shapes. The colors in the rug are maroon, gold, black, and white (more of a cream). The colors in the large photo are more accurate than the closeup photos which look more pink. The “red” color is really more of a deep maroon.
The rug was purchased in the late 1980's, has only had owner and has been hung in a non-smoking house.
Size: 31” x 32”. Tight weave.
Condition: Very good. The rug is more square than what the photos show.

Care and maintaintenqnce of vintage Native American rugs: Regularly vacuum rugs but without a brush roller so that the texture of the rug is not effected. Avoid placing the rug in direct sunligh. Store rugs flat in a cool, dry place to help preserve the fabric and colors. If cleaning is necessary, contact a company that specailizes in cleaning authentic Native Amercan rugs. Do not use commercial cleaners. soaps, or stain removers or rug cleaners.
